NEW FOR 2014:
- Sport Package added to Cooper
- Yours Package added to Cooper S
- New colours: Kite Blue, Highclass Grey (Yours Package)
- New interior trim colour: Pepper White
The Mini Coupe continues to defy convention, proving that there’s no such thing as a niche too, well, niche. Unique styling with a raked windshield and a roof that was inspired by a backwards baseball cap differentiate this Mini from the standard Hardtop hatchback. Inside, a lower seating position gives it a sportier feel, although the rear seats and cargo bay have been sacrificed.
Not much has changed for model year 2014 with the Cooper Coupe; there’s a new Sport Package for the naturally aspirated Cooper model that adds a choice of 17-inch alloy wheels, piano black interior trim and sports seats. The Mini Yours “luxury” configuration arrives for the Cooper S, adding stylish grey leather seats, and exclusive Highclass Grey exterior paint with black roof and mirror caps, plus black-painted wheels. All models can be optioned out with new Kite Blue metallic paint, and new Pepper White accent trim.
The Mini Coupe comes in three models: Cooper Coupe, Cooper S Coupe, and John Cooper Works Coupe. The Cooper uses a 1.6-litre four-cylinder engine; the Cooper S uses a turbocharged 1.6-litre engine; and the John Cooper Works uses a higher-horsepower turbocharged 1.6-litre engine. All three come with a six-speed manual transmission; the Cooper and Cooper S can be optioned with a six-speed automatic.
Features on the Cooper include 16-inch wheels, chrome exterior trim, doorhandles, grille, and trunk garnish, rear roof spoiler, active rear trunk spoiler, leatherette upholstered gearshift and handbrake gate, chrome interior door handles, leatherette upholstery, chrome exhaust, ambient interior lighting, bi-xenon headlamps, six-way manually adjustable front seats, automatic climate control, leather-wrapped sports steering wheel with multi-function controls, cruise control, tilt and telescoping steering column, heated exterior mirrors, heated wiper nozzles, auto up/down power windows, stainless steel footrest, keyless entry with start/stop button, third sunvisor (driver’s side), trip computer, and AM/FM/CD stereo with aux-in and USB ports.
The Cooper S adds hood scoop, body-colour tailgate handle, black honeycomb grille, sport button, extended interior décor, extended trip computer functionality, double centrally-mounted exhaust tips and sport seats.
The John Cooper Works adds 17-inch alloy wheels, dynamic traction control, aerodynamic kit, anthracite headliner, and piano black interior accents.
